Fisheries Improvement Project: responsible sourcing!
Since we have established our presence in Mauritania in 2014, we have been aware of the challenges ahead and took concrete action. We therefore initiated the Small Pelagics Fisheries Improvement Project (FIP), a multi-stakeholder program involving scientific researchers, national authorities, certification standard and the private sector. This project aimed at improving the management of fisheries, encouraging factories to obtain MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and MarinTrust certifications, and more recently, to address the local social impacts of fishing activities.
